FAQs
What is Spoken word
Spoken Word is poetry explicitly written to be performed onstage, rather than read from the page. As an art form it focuses on the aesthetics of word play, intonation and voice inflection. While often associated with hip-hop culture, it also has strong ties to storytelling, modern poetry, post-modern performance, and monologue theatre, as well as jazz, blues, and folk music. It can be can be dynamic, comedic, dramatic or tragic and often contains references to current events and issues relevant to contemporary audiences. At its best spoken word is a powerful, high-energy, form of expression that attracts artists and audiences of all ages from a wide range of disciplines and socio-cultural backgrounds.

What is the parking situation
Onsite parking at the Ford is very limited. Parking is stacked for all shows; there is no early exit. We highly recommend carpooling, taking a ride sharing service or riding the Metro. If parking on site, please arrive early to ensure availability. Offsite parking with FREE Shuttle is also available For more info visit fordtheatres.org
Can I really bring my own food and beverages?
YES! Dining options are available onsite or you can bring your own food and beverage for preshow picnicking in the terraced entryway or snacking in your seat during the performance. Sealed beer and wine are permitted but hard liquor, thermoses etc. are not. Bags will be checked at the door. Also note that there are no tables in the amphitheatre and that all picnic coolers, baskets, etc. need to be small enough to fit under your seat so as not to block any walkways. Visit Ford Theatres Dining and Theatre Policies pages for details and venue restrictions.
Is this show suitable for children
No. Some of the performers use strong language and/or adult themes and content. In my personal opinion: A mature older teen with a liberal parent would be fine.
